Maes, Lauren Martin, Larry McCrary, Glen Glen McCrary took basic clogging lessons from Dale & LaVonne Miller of the
Double Eagle Cloggers in the spring of 1983. After graduating he joined their
exhibition team and performed around the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex for two
years. Noting that there was no clogging clubs in the mid-cities area (between Ft.
Worth and Dallas), he decided to start a set of lessons in Grand Prairie in
February 1986, which drew 35 students. With the first graduation he formed a
new clogging club called the Dixie Style Cloggers. He continued to promote that
club through more lessons, twice each year, and developing the exhibition team,
eventually into multiple teams of different age levels. He became active in The Texas Clogging Council, eventually becoming the North
District Vice President for two terms, followed by two more terms as President
of the Council. In 1994 the Texas Clogging Council named him "Clogger of the
Year". In 1998 he formed another new club known as the Dixie Grand Cloggers, of which
he is still director as well as taking on the role of "cuer/instructor" of the
Texas Express Cloggers of Farmers Branch. Today he remains director of both Texas Express and Dixie Grand Cloggers,
still promoting clogging through their performances and ongoing clogging lessons
twice a year. Please visit the official website for the Dixie Grand Cloggers at http://www.dixiegrand.com
